Realistic situation:
I have an account with 3 chapters, linked to PlayNC and can buy over the online store items like slots, expansion etc.
My little cousin (12 yrs old) also plays GW. He has also one account with 3 chapters (8 char slots) and complains that he cannot make all profession with only 8 slots. For some reason he does not want to link his account to a PlayNC account.
His birthday is in August and I would like to give him a small present: character slots.

My question to Anet:
Please, give us the option to buy over the online store, but instead of adding character slots (or expansions in the future) to my account, just give me the code.
So I can give this code to my cousin as a birthday present and he can add it to his account.

I think this is a great idea. I have alot of friends that play and being able to buy the exclusive content from the in game store would be very nice indeed. Esp as presents.

When you purchase from the online store you get a code anyway - the only thing that needs to be done is to give an option to whether a code is locked to the account that purchased it or not.

Here's a perfect situation where Anet is doing themselves out of business

Still I don't see any harm for A-net in it but it might open up a market for (indirect) buying in game gold for real cash

Because it has happened. Now it is strictly forbidden but with the ability to give character slots or whatever it'll be more of a gray zone I'd think. Where's the line of two friends giving each other shit and trading real cash for digital? Both giving gold and account upgrades would be ok. Sure they already do some sort of judgement when dealing with gold sellers/buyers but I think this will be tougher not to mention it'll spike.

This would also help if you don't have a credit card, and your friend offers to get you the slots instead. It's not fun giving your password and login name to a friend just so they can grab a couple slots for you (I do trust my friend, but it's just a pointless extra hassle).

I dont see why NCSoft/Anet would not apply this. This is for us players and for NCSoft/Anet a win-win situation.
